Answer: There are several reasons as to why it is important to only wear pool attire in the pool. Cotton street clothes are known to transport airborne and ultimately water borne contaminants into the pool water. Cotton and similar materials may also break down in the water and the fibers may clog the drains. Cotton that has been dyed can bleed into the pool which could alter the chemistry. Also, cotton can absorb the chemicals in the water, causing the water to become less effective at maintaining the proper chemical balance or may cloud the water. Best fabrics for proper swim attire are Lycra and Nylon. Parents of children not yet toilet-trained must ensure their child has snugly fitting rubber pants or swim diapers. Pampers or any type of disposable diapers are not permitted to be worn in any pool.
